Renaud Philippe (1984) grew up and lives in Quebec City, Canada. As a freelance photojournalist and member of Kahem collective, Renaud has travelled far and wide in Haiti, India, Nepal, Thailand, Kenya, Tunisia, and Canada. Renaud is following the threads of pressing themes like social exclusion and exile, forging connections through his art with those forced by war, injustice, and natural disaster to leave everything behind. He is represented in Europe by Hans Lucas. Renaud’s awards include a Gold National Magazine Award (Photojournalism & Photo Essay), the Magenta Foundation’s 2014 and 2015 Flash Forward award, an Award of Excellence in the International Pictures of the Year Award (POYi), four annual grand prizes from Quebec’s association of independent journalists (AJIQ), and the Quebec’s professional journalists’ federation (FPJQ)’s Antoine Desilet award.
