Tropical Summer is a collection of portraits of girls from 16 to 18 years old, living in France.
The adolescence is a succession of phases necessary for the good development of the adult to become there.
16-18 years corresponds to what we can call the phase of insertion, the last stage of the adolescence at the girls.
With Tropical Summer, I "image" this period in the course of which the teenager becomes identified then with the adult in a stable way, with less idealized image, less claiming. She realizes her emotional independence, and builds her economic independence; she accepts without ambivalence to take place of her parents.
The teenager is then in search, in research for a still unknown or underestimated future. This period filled at the same time with certainties and with uncertainties is thus supposed to enclose the adolescence.
In Tropical Summer, I exclude shams, I show the teenager in a frontal way, without subtleties, such as she is of course, on a daily basis, ready or not to approach her adult's life.
I walk up and down the streets cities, in the day, with my camera; I suggest then to these girls posing for me there, now, at once, such as they are in their everyday life.
