Taken during walks, this serie is not only about urbanism and architecture, but also as an inverse, empty spaces, spaces between the buildings, around them, their high, their surfaces and density.
more... This series is taken in Poznan, Poland, during a two month research residency. She walked and drifted inside the city without any plan, to make a map of it, not like an Urbanism plan but more like a sensitive and synesthesia view.
With her camera, she is capturing images, and behind, layers of history, stories and power relationship. Not only about Urbanism and architecture, but also as an inverse, empty spaces, spaces between the buildings, around them, their high, their surfaces and density. Post industrial environment, construction site, empty billboard and alternate is this selection. She observed the use of inhabitants taking over the spaces, and detected the stories and histories thought them.
More than a documentation about the city, Julie Chovin's photographs are stimulating the city's imaginary.
